The Cosmic Choir

The Cosmic Choir

What do you think of singing?

Oh I LOVE a song!

There’s something deeply human about it isn't there?

A song can lift the spirits, steady the emotions, or help us carry a burden for a while.

Even people who would never describe themselves as musical often find that music reaches them in ways ordinary speech cannot.

Near the end of Revelation chapter 5, there is one of the most astonishing scenes in the Bible. John, the writer of Revelation, describes what feels almost like a camera shot pulling back further and further until the whole cosmos comes into view.

And as the vision zooms out, what he hears is extraordinary.

Universal Worship

Every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and in the sea joins in one vast chorus:

“Blessing and honour and glory and power be to the One on the throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever.”

Every creature.

Not just religious people.

Not just human beings.

Not merely the spiritually interested.

The vision is of all creation united in a single act of recognition and praise.

Now perhaps that feels a long way removed from ordinary life.

You may be dealing with a difficult relationship, anxiety over health, financial strain, or a work situation that is draining you dry. On a weary Friday afternoon, the idea of a “Cosmic Choir” can sound very distant indeed.

But this vision matters precisely because of what it says about reality itself.

It tells us that the universe is not fundamentally silent or indifferent. Creation is not random machinery grinding away without meaning. The universe is moving in the hand of the One who made it and sustains it.

History is travelling somewhere.

All creation is moving toward a moment of recognition - a moment when every corner of existence acknowledges the worth of the Lamb who gave Himself for the world.

That repeated word in Revelation is significant:

“Worthy.”

The message of the vision is that the self-giving love seen at the cross of Jesus Christ is not a minor religious idea tucked away at the edge of history. It is the deepest and most powerful reality in existence. One day, all creation will recognise that.

And embedded within that vision is an invitation.

The invitation

You do not have to wait for the final chorus to begin joining in.

The call of the Christian faith is not simply to admire Jesus from a distance, nor merely to agree with certain doctrines. It is to step into a life centred on giving God His worth — recognising Him for who He is and responding accordingly.

And the remarkable thing is this: that life does not begin at some future point when circumstances improve or questions disappear.

It begins for you right now.

Biblically speaking, that is what following Jesus Christ is about ... not simply preparing for another world one day, but beginning even now to live in tune with the deepest reality of this one.

The song has already begun.

The question is whether we will join in.
