We all feel it - the weight of a world that doesn't make sense.
War, suffering, unanswered prayer, injustice that goes on and on.
Is anyone in control?
Does any of it mean anything?
In this episode of Word for the Week, we 'open a window' into Heaven - and what we see there answers the deepest question the human heart asks.
Revelation 5 is one of the most extraordinary chapters in the entire Bible. A sealed scroll. A cosmic silence. An old man weeping. And then ... the most astonishing reversal in all of Scripture.
This episode explores issues of:
- What the sealed scroll actually is - and why it matters so much
- The Greek word "axios" (worthy) and why it carries the whole chapter
- Why John "kept on weeping" (the imperfect tense of eklaion)
- How a Lion turns out to be a Lamb - and what that changes about everything
- Why the Cross is not the problem that needed a solution: it IS the solution
- Where your unanswered prayers actually are right now
- What "kingdom of priests" means for you, this week, on Monday morning
This is not just theology. This episode brings upi pastoral oxygen for people living under real pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the sealed scroll in Revelation 5?
It's the document containing the meaning of history - every empire, every suffering, every unanswered prayer.
Under Roman law a will required seven witnesses and seven seals.
This scroll is God's testament for all of creation, waiting for someone with the legal and moral right to open it.
Why does John weep in Revelation 5?
Because no one is found worthy to open the scroll.
The Greek says he kept on weeping - he couldn't stop. He understands what a sealed scroll means: history has no redeemer, and the suffering of God's people may amount to nothing.
Who is worthy to open the scroll?
The Lamb - Jesus Christ.
He alone is found to have the moral weight, the earned authority, and the proven right to open it.
He is worthy because he was slain: the Cross is not a problem that needed solving before the victory could come. The Cross is the victory.
Why is Jesus called both a Lion and a Lamb in Revelation 5?
John is told to look for the Lion of Judah - a conquering king. But when he turns, he sees a Lamb that looks slaughtered. This is not a contradiction.
The Lion conquers, but the mode of conquest is sacrifice, not military power. The Lion is the Lamb.
Where do my prayers go? Do they reach God?
Revelation 5 answers this directly.
The prayers of God's people are held in golden bowls of incense before the throne. Not one has been lost or forgotten. Heaven is full of your prayers - treasured and kept safe there.
What does "kingdom of priests" mean in Revelation 5:10?
It comes from Exodus 19:6, the covenant promise at Sinai.
Through the blood of the Lamb, every believer - from every tribe, language, people and nation - is given a dignity no empire can grant and no empire can take away.
As a folllower of Christ you have direct access to God.
That is what a priest has.
