Super Short Thought | re-Bridging the Gap

What is the point of a bridge?

A bridge connects two places that would otherwise stay separated.

Sitting quietly by the rebuilt Old Bridge (Stari Most) in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, I was struck by how well this matches what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20: Christ has reconciled us to God, and the bridge he built is cross shaped.

In this Super Short Thought:

How the Neretva River has long divided the east and west of Mostar and why rebuilding the bridge after the conflict matters.

How 2 Corinthians 5 describes the cross as a bridge between God and people.

What the “ministry of reconciliation” means for ordinary Christians today

And there's a challenge: who will you roll the bridge out for, someone who is not just like you, but where there is an obvious gap?

Key Bible passage: 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (God reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation).

In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul teaches that Christ has bridged the gap between God and people through the cross, and that believers are now called to guide others across that bridge.
