Feeling low this February?
When the skies are grey and morale is low, Revelation 1 places a bright new light on our horizon.
In this Super Short Thought, we reflect on Revelation 1:16–17, where the apostle John - exiled on the prison island of Patmos - sees Christ whose face shines “like the sun in full strength.”
Not soft light.
Not flickering candlelight.
Full-strength brilliance.
And when John falls in fear, the blazing Christ lays his right hand on him and says:
“Do not fear.”
If the weather feels heavy…
If the future of your world feels uncertain…
If disappointment has narrowed your horizon…
If the future looks grey…
This passage doesn’t first tell you to try harder.
It shows how and where to lift your eyes.
Above the noise.
Above the gloom.
Above the uncertainty ... there is a reigning Christ whose glory has not dimmed.
And if you don’t yet believe, please try to grasp this:
At the centre of Christianity is not a fading moral teacher or a tired tradition - but a living light-filled Lord, whose radiance has not been diminished by our circumstances ... and we were made to bask reflecting out His Glory.
Sometimes hope doesn’t begin with fixing everything below.
It begins with seeing who still shines above.
