Churches don’t close when people leave.
They close when the Word of God stops being heard ... and obeyed.
In Revelation 3, Jesus speaks to the church in Philadelphia ... a small, seemingly weak fellowship. Yet he commends them for one thing: “You have kept my word.”
- Not admired it.
- Not quoted it occasionally.
- But kept it, guarded it, lived by it, obeyed it.
That’s where real church life begins ... and where decline quietly starts when it’s lost.
In this short reflection from a field of cows in rural Wales, we explore:
- Why attendance isn’t the true measure of church health
- How the Bible can become “background noise”
- What Jesus actually looks for in a living church
- Why small, faithful churches matter more than we think
If you care about the future of the church (especially in rural communities) this is for you.
