Bought?!
What Revelation 5 Says About Belonging and Human Dignity
The death of Jesus wasn't just a tragedy - or a moral lesson - but a transaction.
How come?
There's a line in an ancient song, sung in a vision of heaven, that I've never been able to shake:
"By your blood you purchased people for God — from every tribe, and language, and people, and nation." (Revelation 5:9)
The word translated "purchased" is a marketplace word. Full price. Paid. Ownership transferred.
Not bought into servitude.
Into belonging.
Into a dignity that no government, no culture, and no human institution can grant or take away.
And the reach of it?
Every tribe.
Every tongue.
Every background.
Not just the religious.
Not just those with their lives sorted.
Everyone.
Including me.
Including you.
Do you want to understand what was actually on the heart of Jesus - what he cared about, what drove him?
